Sustainable development in Kumbo is not something the Council does to its communities — it is something we do together. The structures below exist to ensure that every citizen, regardless of where they live, has a genuine voice in the decisions that shape their municipality.
Village Development Committees (VDCs)
Each of our 42 villages has a Village Development Committee that serves as the formal bridge between residents and the Council. VDCs identify local needs, monitor project implementation, and channel community priorities into the Council's planning cycle. To get involved in your village's VDC, contact your village chief or the Council Community Animator.
How to Participate Directly
Council Plenary Sessions
Held quarterly and open to the public. Attend to observe deliberations and understand how decisions affecting your community are made.
Budget Consultations
Held every October–November. This is when the Council sets its investment priorities for the coming year. Your participation determines what gets funded.
Youth & Opportunity
The Council actively supports youth development across sport, vocational training, and civic engagement.
- The Mayor's Cup football tournament provides structured athletic competition and community cohesion.
- Seasonal holiday work placements give young people exposure to municipal operations.
- Vocational training centers, including the Women Empowerment Center, provide practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
